THE SILVER BRIGADE ANNOUNCES NAME CHANGE TO
NEW JERSEY TAXPAYERS’ ASSOCIATION
New name, new mission and educational
initiatives to be announced at Middletown Library on Tuesday, May 29th
Whitehouse
Station, NJ – May 15, 2007
- The Silver Brigade, a statewide grass roots organization dedicated to
achieving major reforms in New Jersey’s property taxes, today announced
that it has changed its name to the New Jersey Taxpayers’ Association (NJTA)
and that the organization has expanded its mission to address
across-the-board tax reform issues important to residents of the state
of New Jersey. NJTA President Jerry Cantrell will be the featured
speaker at an upcoming public forum to be held at the Middletown Public
Library on
Tuesday, May 29th, 2007 at 7:00-8:30PM. This move is in line
with the organization’s goals for expanding its membership and
representation statewide and to create a climate conducive to changing
the fiscal policies in Trenton.
“Given the fiscal
crisis that our state now faces, we believe the time is ripe for
change,” said Jerry Cantrell, NJTA President. “Although we accomplished
much over the past seven years, we believe that we will be able to
better represent the interests of all
New Jersey
citizens by transforming the Silver Brigade’s image from a local,
property tax relief senior group to one of a broad based state-wide tax
reform organization. By taking a fresh approach and expanding our
mission statewide, NJTA will now be able to provide
New Jersey’s
taxpayers with their very own representative in
Trenton.”
During his May 29th
presentation, Mr. Cantrell will introduce a variety of new NJTA-sponsored
educational initiatives including soon-to-be published Candidates’
Report Cards. “As active members of their communities, our goal is to
provide our members and indeed the general public at large with the
knowledge and tools needed to elect responsible officials and to send
the message that if change is not forthcoming we will replace the
non-performers with those who will fight for change.”
